Ministry Update - December 2010

To God be the Glory; great things He hath done.

Dear Partners and Friends,

How I rejoice to be able to send you this report on the bounty that you provided through this ministry to the children of Appalachia for Thanksgiving and Christmas 2010! In spite of the economy, you have again demonstrated your willingness to sacrifice in order to help children who have dire needs. Shipments have been made to Prestonsburg, Elkhorn City and Topmost, Kentucky; Portsmouth, Chillicothe, and Otway, Ohio; and Alderson, West Virginia.

I continually stand in awe of God’s mercy and graciousness to those who give as He speaks to our hearts and compels us to share that with which He has blessed us! All praise to God and thanks to you—new partners and those of long standing—who are dedicated to TLC Ministries. We can rejoice with all of Heaven because of Him and the way He “makes a way” for each of us to participate in His vineyard. I pray this report will bless your heart and that you will prayerfully share it with someone. Many times new contributors become aware of this ministry through you.

Shipments consisting of the following items have been made:

Coats 1,122 (at $30.00/coat). This includes coats received at our office. The need for donations to this fund is constant. Once again, we were blessed to receive a significant donation from a very generous contributor.

Hats, scarves and mittens, 768 sets. Plus 242 Hats only. The children very much appreciate the matching hat/scarf/mitten sets. There are patterns for knitted mittens and a knitted scarf and hat set which you may download from our web site or, if you make your request by mail, please include a self-addressed, stamped #10 envelope.

Boys’ outfits, 300 (pants, shirt, underwear, socks), plus 92 knit shirts. We accept store-bought jeans for BOYS ONLY in sizes 4 through 12.

Girls’ outfits, 253 (dress or jumper/blouse, tights or socks, slip, undies, hair bow, bracelet, small crocheted purse) plus 186 tops.

A Biblical tract entitled, “Happy Birthday, Jesus” was included with each outfit.

Sweaters, 146, lovely hand knitted.

Shoes, 621 pairs. The Shoe Fund is ongoing. For those of you who contribute to the SHOE FUND, please note that the cost of boy’s and girl’s shoes are now both $15.00.

We also shipped 268 quilts, blankets, afghans and baby blankets, 9 bathrobes, 989 flannel nightgowns and PJ’s and 77 slippers for the girls and 158 PJ’s with slippers for the boys, and 497 pieces of infant and toddler clothing, plus a number of cloth books.

TLC was the recipient of a SIGNIFICANT amount of clothing for men (234 pieces) and for women (1277 pieces). This was a one-time gift of new clothing that we accepted even though our ministry is for the children. The same organization provided 912 pair of the girls PJ’s above.

Personal Care Kits, 301. You may download a specific list of items from our website, or make your request known by mail, being sure to include a SASE, please.

Beanie Babies 264 and 300 “Santa faces” filled with candy kisses.

The work of the Lord is endless, and our next shipment will be for Easter. The deadline is March 25, 2011 but you may ship earlier. It is very important that your love gifts are received by this date to ensure that no child is disappointed on Easter Sunday.

Boys need pants and SHORT-SLEEVED cotton knit shirts in sizes 4 through 12.

Girls need solid color or floral patterned SHORT-SLEEVED dresses, and SLIPS, in sizes 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8; designs and fabric must be appropriate for young girls. Also, we have requests for girls’ dresses in sizes 10 and 12; please consider making some in these sizes. As always, it is very important that you mark the size on each garment.

As we remain ever grateful for all that God has privileged this ministry to accomplish through Him in the past, it is our earnest prayer that TLC ministries will continue to expand and bless additional children and that each one will come to know Him as his/her personal Savior because of your love gifts, which prompt a number of families to attend worship services and hear the Word of God.

Nothing I could say would be sufficient to thank you for your meaningful and valuable contributions to TLC Ministries; I just pray that God will interpret from my heart to yours just what this means to me personally and to the ones who receive your favors. Along with my expression of deep gratitude comes my prayer that God’s choicest blessings will be yours at Christmastime and throughout 2011.

It is also my prayer that you would seek the will of the Lord in the matter of sending a year-end gift at this time to enable us to begin now to prepare for the 2011 Easter Season in meeting the needs of children, and may God bless you as you follow His bidding.

REMINDER: Please check to determine whether your employer or your spouse’s employer has a Corporate Matching Gift Program. Many corporations double or triple your contributions to charitable organizations, and this is an excellent way for you to make an even greater impact.

In line with my being a good steward of TLC’s finances, please notify me if you do not wish to remain on our mailing list and/or if you have a change of address.

For those of you who customarily download the newsletter from our website, please note that you will receive a hard copy of this year-end report in the U. S. mail.

Joyfully in HIS service,

Then the righteous will answer him,
"Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you,
Or thirsty and give you something to drink?
When did we see you a stranger and invite you in,
or needing clothes and clothe you?
When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?"
The King will reply,
"I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least
of these brothers of mine, you did it for me. "

Matthew 26:37-40 NIV
